Blue2 (they insist we pronounce this ‘blue square’ but we don’t take kindly to insistence) is an eco-friendly Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV — we insist you pronounce this ‘Yevgeny Kafelnikov’) unveiled at the 2011 Seoul motor show. The car is powered by that forgotten and overly abundant source of energy, hydrogen.
“Hyundai’s goal is not to be the biggest car company, but the most loved,” said Steve S. Yang, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor. The company also promised to focus on improving its quality and developing environmentally friendly solutions to transportation.
Blue2 is a small step in the right direction, as not only does it look pretty swell with its low and wide stance, but it also packs a 90kW punch good for a fuel economy of 2.86 litres-per-100km. Hyundai included low rolling resistance tyres too, as well as aerodynamic wheels, while the car’s futuristic interior is wrapped in mostly eco-friendly materials.
The car’s green credentials continue with a cluster ionizer that freshens the oxygen in the cabin, meaning you don’t need to blame the dog when you pass wind. So not only do you breathe fresh air, you also emit cleaner air. Now how can you not love that?
