Bōsōzoku is a Japanese subculture that originated with motorcycle clubs and gangs. In the 70s they originally started off applying crazy chopper style mods to jap street bikes. In the late 80s and early 90s they started making outrageous mods to their cars in attempt to emulate the super silhouette stock cars of the 70s and 80s. It has now blown up to whole new art form, taking car art to a entirely new level.

I have an old 89 honda accord parked at my dads house for storage. Im actually considering modding it out just for the fun of it.

its a real car. the modifications are for form not function. its all about outrageous looks. you gotta see some of the crazy costumes the car owners wear.

anime's crazy style is coppied from Bōsōzoku gangs of the 70s and 80s from what ive read.
