Artist creates F1 car replicas to show his dislike for the sport

“Democracy” as the latest sculpture by Pintor Sirait is called, is another in the series of his thought provoking pieces where he uses F1 car sculptures to convey everything that is wrong with the world. And F1 racing is right there in his list of everything that’s wrong. “Democracy” explores what nations intend to do, but are never able to accomplish due to violence and bloodshed. To drive the point home, the car is covered in bullet holes, 1500 bullet holes to be exact.

Democracy is, in ways, much like his earlier piece Desire that had 600 bullet holes shot through a .38 caliber Colt revolver. Victory was a sculpture crushed and restored to symbolize Lewis Hamilton’s crash and subsequent win at the 2007 F1 race in Germany. Sirait’s latest exhibition will start in Singapore on September 18 this year, and will be there long enough to see the only night time F1 race.
