Anyone considering a media center PC that has Blu-ray capabilities will be happy to hear Zotac is set to introduce a very small, energy efficient new mini-PC to cater for your needs.
The ZBOX Blu-ray AD03 and AD03 Plus offer up quite a powerful PC using AMD’s new E-350 APU platform–an AMD Fusion CPU-GPU solution.
Here’s the full spec of the AD03 Plus machine:
- AMD E-350 APU Platform (1.6GHz dual-core processor)
- 2GB DDR3 RAM (8GB supported)
- AMD Radeosn HD 6310 GPU (500MHz, 80 unified shaders)
- 2.5″ 250GB 5400rpm HDD
- 4x Blu-ray slot drive (8x DVD)
- Mini-PCI Express slot
- HDMI, DVI, VGA
- 802.11n WiFi (300Mbps) and Gigabit Ethernet
- Combo eSATA USB 2.0 port
- 2x USB 3.0 ports
- 7.1 Channel digital audio
- DirectX 11, OpenCL, OpenGL 3.2, and AMD UVD technology
- Windows 7/Vista/XP and Linux compatible
The ZBOX is already an established line of mini-PCs that Zotac offers, but this latest model looks set to offer a substantial increase in performance over previous models while including Blu-ray support as standard.
The size of the ZBOX puts it on a par with a typical DVD player size measuring just 187 x 280 x 40mm. It’s not going to take up much space under your TV while offering a complete PC solution or a replacement for that power-hungry PS3 you’ve been using as a Blu-ray player.
Availability and price have not been announced yet. Previous ZBOX models have been prices between $200 and $250. With Blu-ray we expect the AD03 Plus to be closer to $300.
