It would appear as though the closer we get to the release of the HTC Thunderbolt the further we get from the device we were originally promised. The Thunderbolt, Verizon’s first 4G LTE device, was originally announced at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show. Since then we’ve discovered that while it is a 4G LTE device for data it will still use CDMA for voice. Now, it seems that as we get closer to launch more features are being removed.

The Skype Mobile with Video references have been removed.
There could be multiple explanations for this. Skype may not be finished incorporating QIK into their existing set up, which may be a vital component for video chat in app form. Neither Verizon nor Skype were available to speak on the matter, but as per the email above, Skype Video has been removed from the Thunderbolt.
So, no Skype video, no channelized voice, and that excessive out of contract price at Best Buy leads me to wonder how many of us will be the skipping over the Thunderbolt in hopes that the next Verizon 4G LTE device will deliver.
