just now one of my frnd prabhz joined Twitter he had some doubts using it so i Thought of this Thread may be its helpful to you too




Do you know how to speak Twitter? It makes sense that with only 140 characters, there would be a need to create some shortcuts, but with all the new abbreviations popping up every day, I think it is becoming more of a dialect. (They are technically called acronyms, not abbreviations)

Just the other day someone tweeted me with IMHO in the tweet. What the heck does that mean? How does someone figure that stuff out? I remember it took me a month to learn that TY stands for thank you. I know… duh!

If you are new on Twitter, I’m about to save you a whole bunch of time and shorten your learning curve a lot. I made this master list of 35 Twitter abbreviations for us to share. I’m sure there may be some I’ve forgotten, so please leave them in a comment below.

BG = Background (when someone refers to their Twitter background page)

BFN = Bye for now

BR = Best regards

BTW = By the way

DM = Direct message

EM = Email

FB = Facebook

FTF = Face to face

FWIW = For what it’s worth

Gr8 = Great

IMO = In my opinion

IMHO = In my honest opinion or in my humble opinion

IRL = In real life

J/K = Just kidding

LI = LinkedIn

LMK = Let me know

LMBO = Laughing my butt off

LMAO = Laughing my ass off

LOL = Laughing out loud

NP = No problem

OMG = Oh my God

OMFG = Oh my f—- God

PLZ = Please

ROFL = Rolling on the floor laughing

RT = Retweet

RTHX = Thanks for the retweet

TMB = Tweet me back

TMI = Too much information

TTYS = Talk to you soon

TTYL = Talk to you later

TY = Thank you

WTH = What the heck

WTF = What the f—

YW = You’re welcome
