Samsung i5700 Receives Official Android 2.1 Update

Here is good news for all Samsung i5700 Galaxy Spica owners because Samsung has officially released the Android 2.1 update for the handset. This update will initially be released in Germany, but will be released gradually elsewhere. The Android 2.1 for the Galaxy Spica includes 9 home screens, augmented reality support, widgets, visual bookmarks, upgraded camera to enhance image options, and quick attachment of files to MMS.

Samsung Sunburst Available Stateside

Samsung’s upcoming handset, the Sunburst, will be released in the US on March 21st, 2010 via AT&T. The Samsung Sunburst is an all-touch phone sporting a 3-inch resistive touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. A widget bar feature allows one-touch access to common phone functions like creating a text message, in addition to direct links to social networking sites. Other features include a 2MP camera with video recording capability, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR connectivity, AT&T SocialNet, AT&T Mobile Music, AT&T Navigator, Motion Detection and Smart Unlock. The Motion Detection can mute (and redirect) an incoming call simply by turning it around with the face down on a table, meanwhile the Smart Unlock allows you to draw a symbol on the screen to jump directly to a specific phone functionality when unlocking the phone. The Samsung Sunburst will retail for $39.99 after a 2-year agreement as well as a mail-in rebate.

Vodafone UK has announced the availability of the new Sony Ericsson Vivaz on its network. The handset is being offered for free with a 2-year contract agreement of at least £30 per month. To refresh your memory, the Vivaz boasts a 3.2-inch full touchscreen display, an 8.1MP autofocus camera, GPS, WiFi, HSDPA, HD video recording (720p), a 3.5mm headset jack and runs on the Symbian S60 operating system.
