What is it?

The new wireless headset from Danish manufacturer Jabra is specifically targeted at fitness enthusiasts: the Jabra Sport.

What's special about it?

The Jabra Sport is what it says on the box — it's for those who like to listen to music or talk on the phone while exercising, without the hassle of tangling wires to slow you down. Light and with a flexible behind-the-ear-fit design, the headsets, intended for both ears and connected by a cord so you don't lose either, are made to fit snugly. They also come with different ear gels to fit different ear shapes. The device works with all Apple, BlackBerry and Android phones. Jabra says it has used "US military grade rain, dust and shock protection". While we're not sure what that means, we're assuming it's the company's way of saying it works well both indoors and outdoors.

What else is cool about it?

The Jabra Sport also features a built-in FM Radio. There's also a "Multiuse" functionality which let's you connect to two devices at the same time, say, a mobile phone and a PC. The headset also comes with the Endomondo Sports Tracker app (available on Android, Apple and BlackBerry enabled phones) which can be used for running, cycling and walking. Using GPS, the app tracks your route, distance, duration and calorie consumption while providing you audio feedback on your progress.

The Jabra Sport is specifically designed to work with the app with the headset's controls built-in. And the promised battery life is 4.5 hours of talk time and 3 hours of music. However, that is yet to be tested.

When is it available in the UAE and for how much?

The Jabra Sport is available at all leading electronics retailers for Dh249. A variant, called the Jabra Active (with cords), is also available for Dh179.

Charter an app

This one's for the high-flyer. UK-based aircraft charter provider Air Partner has launched its multilingual real-time iPhone app. Travellers looking to use private jets can search for estimated prices based on their location, number of passengers on the flight and types of aircraft. The app will also tell you the nearest airport from where you can board your jet. Just a little something, to make life that much easier.

Samsung goes 350

The Korean giant has launched a 12.5-inch notebook called the 350U with a 320GB internal memory and a 4GB DDR3 system memory. Featuring the company's "fast start", which gets the notebook to boot up quicker, the 350U's promised battery life on the box is seven hours on a single charge. Now available in the UAE for Dh2,499.

Clearing the air

American computer networking company Netgear has launched its N600 Wireless Router in the Middle East. The company says its new product is "first of its kind" in that it features a "Clear Channel Selector" which can clear the air around your home, meaning it will automatically switch to a clearer Wi-Fi channel once the one in use becomes clogged. Wi-Fi frequencies can become overcrowded by devices around your home and even your neighbours' and the N600's channel selector, which Netgear says was only previously available on costlier routers, can help you unclog channels. Now available in the UAE for Dh426.
