Sony selling its VAIO PC Business to Focus on Mobile




A few days back it was being reported that Sony is planning to sell its VAIO PC business and recently Sony has confirmed the reports. The company has officially revealed that it will be selling off its PC business o “concentrate mobile business on smartphones and tablets.”

According to the revealed details, Sony will be selling it to Japan Industrial Partners (JIP), and the company is yet to finalize the terms of the deal. Around 250 to 300 employees will be making the shift from Sony to JIP. Sony has confirmed that its “customers will continue to receive aftercare customer services.” However Sony will still launch the Spring 2014 VAIO computers but it will not work on any other new products.

Sony will be focusing on increase the sales of high-end Televisions in the 4K market. The company is also expected to enter the emerging markets with some low priced devices. Sony hopes to finalize the deal by the end of next month.
