More juicy bits of information about the Sony C530X, codenamed 'HuaShan', have surfaced, courtesy a GLBenchmark report. According to The Xperia Blog, this handset will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960T chipset with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor and Adreno 320 graphics.

The GLBenchmark report also reveals that the handset has a 1280 x 720 display with capacitative buttons, and that the handset runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. We currently have no idea if the 'HuaShan' will appear at CES, but the post states that "MWC in February is a dead cert.”

New details emerge

It was in mid-December last year, when we first heard about the Sony C530X 'HuaShan'. The handset was revealed through Picasa and was believed to be launched globally. The EXIF data on the images revealed that the the handset features a new firmware version: 12.0.A.0.273, which is eDream 12. This handset is believed to be a mid-range model as opposed to the upcoming Sony Yuga and Odin. The report details that eDream 10 firmware had earlier appeared on the Sony C650X ‘Odin’.

In related news, new images of the Sony Xperia Z have been leaked. According to ePrice, the images look like they were taken from a promo video for the device. The Xperia Z's display seems to be its main selling point. It will have a 5-inch full HD Reality display with a resolution of 1080p. Other features showcased in the pictures include the 13 megapixel camera and the device's water resistant body. It's speculated to also feature the OptiContrast technology, which is usually found in Sony televisions.

However, we've heard that though the screen shows good colour reproduction for multimedia apps using the Sony Bravia engine, other apps don't fare that well. Viewing angles are lower and the backlight is visible in the black areas of pictures. Measuring 139 x 71 x 7.9 mm, this Xperia device is said to have an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of IP55 and IP57, making it both dust and water resistant.

The Xperia Z is said to run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a skin on top and flaunts a new set of on-screen navigation keys. Falling into the high-end Sony-branded phone category, it is expected to be unveiled at CES this year.

The spec sheet of the Xperia Z will show Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi on the a/b/g/n networks, LTE and a microSD slot. Also, it is said to support SDXC format cards, effectively pushing the maximum memory supported up to 128GB.
