Skype Official Twitter Account Hacked by Syrian Electronic Army
Skype is starting the new year with a security hole in its systems. Recently the official Skype Twitter account was comprised by the popular hacking group, Syrian Electronic Army. The group has hacked the account today and posted several anti-Microsoft tweets. The recent fake tweet by SEA advises Skype’s Twitter Account followers to avoid the use of Microsoft’s email services. The tweet says, “Don’t use Microsoft emails(hotmail,outlook), they are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments. More details soon #SEA.”
This tweet was retweeted more than 8000 times and was online for more than two hours. Another tweet said, “stop spying on people.” That isn’t all, the Syrian Electronic Army hackers have also compromised Skype’s Official Facebook page and a blog hosted on Skype’s website. Microsoft has yet not released any statement regarding the Twitter hack.
