Sega Dreamcast Collection was not worth the wait

Late last year the GameStop website quickly flashed up a listing for a game called Dreamcast Collection. Although it disappeared, Alan Pritchard, chief vice president of sales and marketing confirmed the collection as some of the most popular games on Dreamcast.
We got excited thinking of all the classics we could be about to see on a single disc. But now details have dropped about which games are included, and it’s definitely not something to get excited about.
For a start, it will only contain four games. Those games are:

  • Sonic Adventure
  • Space Channel 5 Part 2
  • Sega Bass Fishing
  • Crazy Taxi
While you may have fond memories of those games, we were expecting a lot more from a collection of games meant to represent the Dreamcast era. Where’s Daytone USA 2001, Shenmue, and Jet Grind Radio?
If this Collection had “Volume One” at the end of the title we’d be more hopeful. But as it stands, this looks like a quick cash-in for Sega on games that are already available as digital downloads.
If you’re still interested in picking this up the Dreamcast Collection will be released on February 22 in North America, and February 25 across Europe for Xbox 360. Expect to pay around $30.
