Rdio coming in India later this year, acquires Dhingana

Rdio is a well know digital music service which has recently announced that it is purchasing Dhingana, which is the popular online music streaming service in India. After the acquisition, Dhingana team will be joining hands with Rdio to help them extend their musical catalog in India. Dhingana founders Snehal Shinde and Swapnil Shinde will join the executive team at Rdio.

A few weeks back, Dhingana announced that it is closing its service in India without providing any specific reason for doing that. But now it seems like the company has got a solution for its problem by joining Rdio. Dhingana has over 1 million songs in 42 different languages in Indian genres and Rdio has around 20 million songs and is currently available in 51 countries across the globe. So, it will be interesting to see how this acquisition would help Rdio to expand its market in India.
