Sony is attempting to come down hard on would be hackers by threatening to ban them from PSN. We have also been told a serial key is being considered for disc-based games meaning a hacker’s PS3 could become little more than a paperweight.
But all is not lost for anyone who does get banned. There is a new hack floating around online that can provide access to PSN and in turn can be used to unban yourself. Sony will not be pleased by this as it seems every time they produce a new rule or firmware fix the hacking community strike back.
This time we feel that the hack could be more of a concern to genuine users as alarmingly it can be used to ban another console. Of course, in order to do that you would need access to the console’s ID. Such information is not normally public knowledge unless you have been silly enough to share it, or the console was bought used.
