Making videos on your phone isn’t necessarily always the easiest way to go about it, especially when you have to re-watch the entire thing afterwards to find where the good parts are. The Nokia Beta Labs have come up with Shoot and Tag, an app that allows you to shoot video and automatically separates different parts of your film into “Tags.”
To try out the new app, first download it from Beta Labs. When you run it your camera will automatically be activated, so you can test it out right away. However, you should know that the usual camera button on your phone is not the record button in this case. There’s a red button on the corner of the screen that will record your video when you tap it. Once you start recording, you’ll see the left-hand side of the screen fill up with Tags each time you pause on a scene as you pan and move the camera. Shoot and Tag will continue to do this no matter how long your film is, so just press stop to close things up.
When you’re ready to watch your video, or show it to someone else, you’ll see all the tagged scenes are stacked on the right in the video playback screen, just like chapters in a DVD. Press one of the tags and your video will jump to that scene.
