Nintendo: 3DS only gets 3-5 hours per charge… unless you tur

It’s been suspected for a while now that the Nintendo 3DS was going to have some pretty short battery life.
The first indication came way back in October, when Nintendo went around advising everyone to put the 3DS back in its charging cradle the second they got home. That raised some eyebrows. Then, a couple weeks ago, we heard that the Nintendo 3DS’s battery life was only three to five hours long. That can’t be right, can it?
Unfortunately, it is. At Nintendo’s North American presser yesterday, they confirmed the abysmal battery life with Kotaku, saying that the 3DS would last between three to five hours a charge, and take approximately 3.5 hours to recharge.
That’s pretty terrible, but there’s good news: that’s only with 3D turned on. Nintendo says that if you turn 3D off, you’ll get as much as eight hours battery life per charge, which is roughly the same as you can expect from the DS Lite.
So, ironically, it seems that the 3DS’s battery life is both as bad and significantly better than feared. One thing’s for sure, though: if you can live without the 3D, you’ll be able to game for significantly longer.
