Nikon D800 36MP Image Sensor Full Frame Camera

Word has it that Nikon will release the new Nikon D800 DSLR on November 24, 2011.

The new D800 will pack 36 megapixels on a full frame FX sensor, and essentially forgo advances in low-light performance in order to produce a medium-cost studio camera instead of a lower-cost prosumer one.

In addition to the model name and number of megapixels, some other details include: 4fps shooting, 1080/30p video recording, support for both CF and SD, and a shutter rated for 200K shots.

The Nikon D800 will end up being like a smaller version of the D3x with the likelihood of some downgrades.

The rumored $4000 price puts it out of most enthusiastsí reach, and the high megapixel count makes it less practical for sports and field photography.
