The number of Android tablets set to appear this year is growing all the time. We all know about the big name brands preparing their competitors to the iPad, but there’s also a number of very cheap Chinese tablets ready to hit the market. The problem such devices have is that the prices are about as low as they can get while retaining some tiny profit margin. So how do you choose one over the other? The Newpad DNT P702 tablet has gone for a novel approach by simply adding a second headphone jack. In doing so Newpad feels this makes the tablet ideal for couples and is “a very romantic thing.” While we wouldn’t go that far, the inclusion of a second jack is a good idea. If you are wathcing a movie while travelling with a partner it means you don’t need an adaptor for you both to listen. The same is true of listening to music. It also offers up a number of marketing opportunities other tablets can’t really use. The spec of the Newpad tablet is not anything to get excited about. It has an overclocked TCC8902 processor running at 1GHz (overclocked from 720MHz), 256MB RAM, 800×480 resistive touchscreen, and runs Android 2.2. With a price of around $140 you can’t complain much. While you won’t want to play games on it, or run any apps that need a lot of touch interaction, it’s still going to be good enough as a movie player, web browser, or music device.
