There was me thinking that the world was in economic crisis and the recession was wiping out companies left right and center, when all along Intel are rolling in dough thanks to a record financial year. In fact revenue topped $43.6 billion, which is up by $8.5 billion, a 24 percent year-over-year increase.
However, instead of the managers and CEO pocketing all the money, the giant corporation is giving its employees a very welcome present with four times their normal bonus. On top of that, each employee is getting the equivalent of 3 days extra pay.
Mind you, this isn’t the only company with record profits or generosity. We reported last year that Google gave its employees $1,000 and a 10% pay hike for Christmas. HP also gave employees a raise, which was a first given that the previous CEO of the company – Mark Hurd – had to make several cutbacks.
Intel employees celebrated the news via the popular social networking platform Twitter with words like “champagne popped.” It seems that Intel employees normally get a bonus each year based on some form of multiplier calculation. This year it was a 4x bonus and next year it could be something different, so if you are looking for a tech job Intel seems to be the best place to be right now.
