On the last day of 2010 a trademark filing was discovered for the “HTC Scribe” with the description on the trademark filing stating:
Handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer
We expected that this was the name of the first HTC tablet that would come to market this year. But according to DigiTimes it isn’t, and we are going to see a tablet called the HTC Flyer arrive in March.
The Flyer is thought to be the first of three tablets HTC is set to launch, so we assume the Scribe will be one of the other two both expected to launc in June. As for the Flyer, all we know is the tablet is modeled on the HTC Desire smatphone (pictured above) and will run Android 2.3 with an upgrade to Android 3.0 planned.
The launch will be handled in conjunction with a network company much like the Galaxy Tab is offered with a data contract. The March launch date is also key for HTC who want to beat the RIM PlayBook and Motorola Xoom tablets to market.
