HP unveils Slate 6 VoiceTab, Slate 7

Remember the 6-inch and 7-inch phablets that HP was rumoured to launch to re-enter the Indian smartphone market? The rumour now turns into reality as HP has finally announced a 6-inch and a 7-inch Slate VoiceTab tablet for the Indian market. The Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab are designed specifically for Indian market, so one can expect competitive pricing. HP has not announced the pricing yet and the tablets will hit store shelves next month.

As expected, both will run on Android, but we yet don’t know which version of the OS. Rumours point to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Interestingly, both are 3G capable and also come with dual SIM modes along with Dual SIM standby, a key aspect when selling in India. On the storage front, the device comes with 16GB onboard storage and microSD card slot for expandable memory.

Both HP Slates will come equipped with IPS displays, but the screen resolution is unclear yet. One can expect rear and front cameras on both. HP also promises a compact, stylish design along with a scratch-resistant back cover design, though we are yet to more than a couple press images of the phone.

“How we create, consume and share information is rapidly evolving, driving the demand for new devices and form factors that adapt to the different ways people work and play,” said Rajiv Srivastava, VP & GM, Printing and Personal Systems, HP India. “HP is innovating for this next generation, addressing the unique needs of customers in India with voice-enabled tablets that deliver performance they can trust, and the entertainment they want
