Asus has announced the VivoPC – a small home theatre PC – at the ongoing Computex event, and we managed to have a closer look. The main point for consideration here is the size of the VivoPC. The PC is seen running Windows 8 and is housed in a box that is only 56 mm tall.
Inside the box, an unnamed Intel processor along with integrated graphics is seen running the show. The PC provides support for either SSD or standard hard drives as well for as much storage as may be needed. We could see two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports as well as an HDMI and a VGA port.
The VivoPC acts as an all-in-one for home entertainment
The case comes in with a metallic finish and has a sliding cover that allows users quick access to the PC’s RAM slots. The PC comes in with Sonic Master audio speakers and also features 802.11ac Wi-Fi for good HD video streaming and web browsing. Additionally, the drive bay can accommodate both an 3.5-inch or a 2.5-inch SATA 6Gbit/s hard drive.
Overall, the piece looks interesting but a bit chunky in appearance. And the major fact that Asus has still not talked about is the Intel processor that the VivoPC will feature. The price of the PC has still not been announced, nor has the official launch dates. However, as reported before, the VivoPC, atleast according to Asus reps at Computex, will be seen in markets in the third quarter of 2013. Asus will definitely release more about the PC till then.
