Google TV clad Logitech Revue Costs $300 (Rs. 13,250 approx.)

Logitech has finally launched Revue, the first device featuring Google TV. New Logitech Revue is a set top box that needs to be connected to an HDTV for a combined TV and web experience. Usable with an HDMI-ready HDTV set, the new Logitech Revue is said to be a worthy competitor of Apple's refreshed Apple TV. Along with the Revue set top box, Logitech has introduced Keyboard Controller, Mini Controller and TV Cam. Logitech had also unveiled video calling feature with apps for Google TV while announcing Revue.

The entire idea of Google TV was to get over the traditional TV watching experience and bring the most recent stuff to the TV screen. Google had briefed a bit about Google TV that brings Web to the TV screen with help of Google Chrome and a search bar. The Revue comes with an "intuitive" companion keyboard controller that works wirelessly. Do note that the Logitech Revue box rests between your HDTV and cable or satellite set-top box.

Logitech Revue box will have a keyboard controller with directional and touch pad, one Infrared booster and HDMI cable. Apart from that, Logitech has also introduced free Logitech Harmony App for Apple's iOS and Google Android platforms. Users will have some Google TV Apps already installed in Revue. These include Netflix for streaming movies and TV Shows, Pandora for music, Napster for digital downloads, CNBC to stay abreast with news-stocks, and Twitter. At this moment, the Google TV interface is at a very nascent stage and over the period of time, better experiences would be offered.

Logitech Revue - $300 (Rs. 13,250 approx.)
Logitech Mini Controller - $130 (Rs. 5750 approx.)
Logitech TV Cam - $150 (Rs. 6600 approx.)

Using the Logitech TV cam along with Logitech Vid HD software, users can perform video calls over Wi-Fi. The new TV cam sports Carl Zeiss optics for crisper and clearer images backed up by better quality audio. Logitech has incorporated RightLight 2 technology to display imagery better in case of illuminated room environment.

The Logitech Mini Controller comes with the same hardware as it used to but has been redesigned as a Revue edition keyboard. This Mini controller measures just 6-inch long and 3.5-inch broad with keys that include buttons to control TV, A/V receiver and DVR.

This first ever Google TV product Logitech Revue is priced at $300 (Rs. 13,250 approx.) which is three times more than the current generation Apple TV available for $100 (Rs. 4,420 approx.). The cost along with the available multimedia services is going to be major factor that will decide the fate of both the products.

Both the aforementioned products are not available outside U.S. Both will take ages till they finally reach the Indian shores. If you wish to pre-order Logitech Revue, then you can do that from - Bestbuy, Amazon or Logitech.
