Google RailWire WiFi active across 19 railway stations in India

RailWire a free WiFi service in collaboration with Google, RailTel and Indian Railways as of now is serving over 1.5 billion Indian Railway passengers. The Google RailWire WiFi is now available at 19 stations across India.


Google India is working closely with the Indian Railways to provide free net connectivity at about 100 railway station across India. Their target is to get 100 stations WiFi enabled by 2016. And once the target is achieved more number of stations will be added taking the total to over 400.

If you are traveling via Indian railways you will be able to access free WiFi at the following stations – Allahabad, Pune, Jaipur, Kacheguda, Ranchi, Uijain, Raipur, Bhopal, Vijayawada, Patna Jn., Guwahati, Mumbai Central, Sealdah, Emakulam Jn, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow Jn, Gorakhpur and Vishakhapatnam.

WiFi is free for 30 minutes for every user (2Mbps speed) – they need to register using their mobile phone (number) to begin a session. After 30 minutes if user wants they can go for paid option – they can use recharge coupons available from RailTek Kiosks or go for online recharging option.

As per Google the response was phenomenal, average consumption per user is 15 times more than what they would consumer using 3G data pack.

once at at time. You can reconnect after few minutes. Free wifi li loki hun sara din station de lage hi rehnde. Je Punjab ch aa gaya taan sare othe hi labhan ge.:)
