The netbook market may be suffering in the the face of millions of iPad tablet sales, but that isn’t stopping the more established vendors from rolling out new models.
Gigabyte is no exception, and has started listing two new dual core netbook models on its website before 2010 is over. What’s interesting here is that one of the models seems to be the exact same spec used in the Jolicloud Jolibook minus the cloud OS of course.

The two new models are the M1005 and the Q2005. Both are almost exactly the same, but have a few differences that may be important to some.
Here’s the base spec of the two netbooks:

  • Intel dual core Atom N550 @ 1.5GHz
  • Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium
  • 10.1″ 1024 x 600 LED backlit display
  • 1GB or 2GB DDR3 RAM
  • Intel GMA 3150 integrated graphics
  • 250GB or 320GB 5400rpm HDD
  • 3x USB 2.0 ports
The differences come in the form of the card reader, camera, and battery. The M1005 only ships with a 4-cell battery, has a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 4-in-1 card reader, and ships in silver/black colors. The Q2005 has a 3-cell and 6-cell battery option, only a 0.3 megapixel camera, an 8-in-1 card reader, and ships in black.
The Q2005 is the equivalent of the Jolibook and is clearly more suited for travel with the larger battery. The M1005 on the other hand looks to be more for use around the home. It also has a novel upright docking stand including USB, D-Sub, RJ45, earphones connections as well as doubling as the charger. It offers easy storage and charging many users may appreciate for its quick access and small footprint.

We don’t know what Gigabyte intends to charge for either model, but we expect both to be on display at CES next week.
