Fujitsu’s latest Lifebook offloads a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon

Notebook maker Fujitsu has just unveiled their latest laptop, the Lifebook AH530GFX, and while technologies like Optimus try to juggle powerful GPUs with mobile battery life, this new LifeBook takes a different approach: it offloads the more powerful GPU to an external card.
Here’s how it works. If you just need to do email or browsing, the integrated Intel HD GPU works just fine… but if you want to run Crysis, you simply slap in an external unit containing an ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v 1GB graphics card.
Otherwise, these are the specs we’re looking at. Coming with optional Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processor, Blu-Ray and up to 8GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive, the new Lifebook also has 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, VGA, and Ethernet ports, and a spill-proof keyboard capable of shrugging off the errantly mispoured beer or two.
All in all? An excellent 15-incher for gamers and mobile workers alike. Unfortunately, there’s no price available right now, but the Lifebook AH530GFX should drop by the end of the month.
