OK, I know everybody and their kid brother has a tablet running Google Android to sell these days. But I wasn’t really expecting one from Cisco. But that’s exactly what we’ve got here: a 7 inch Android powered tablet with HD video playback capabilities from Cisco. Huh.

The company plans to start shipping the Cius tablet in 2011. The 1.15 pounds tablet is targeted at business users, with support for video conferencing, email, and multimedia. There’s no word on the price yet.

The tablet features 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, 3G and 4G mobile broadband, Bluetooth 3.0 and Ethernet connectivity. There’s a virtual desktop client for accessing cloud-based apps, and the tablet is said to have access to third party apps from the Android Market. There will also be a number of Cisco apps, including WebEx, Cisco Show, and IM.

Cisco is promising 8 hours of battery life from a user replaceable battery.
