As a Vietnamese leak from yesterday correctly predicted, Apple has quietly updated its white polycarbonate MacBook with a faster processor and graphics, in addition to a longer-lasting battery. The system is everything the source from yesterday promised it would be.
A 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo from the previous upgrade has been ditched in favor of a speedier 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. More importantly, the graphics have received a major boost compared to the Nvidia GeForce 9400M from the previous update because the refreshed model runs Nvidia’s integrated GeForce 320M GPU with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM., the same graphics like on the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The new notebook has a longer-lasting battery rated at ten hours, an improvement over the seven-hour battery from the previous upgrade. You may also like that the MacBook now comes with a MacBook Pro-style MagSafe power connector and dual-layer-burning SuperDrive. However, the new MacBook packs in the same 250GB 5400 RPM hard drive as the previous model and, unfortunately, still comes with just 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM.

The processor and – especially – graphics upgrade have in fact brought the MacBook on a level playing field with entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pros. In fact, the MacBook’s $999 price point make the white polycarbonate notebook a better buy than an aluminum-clad 2.4GHz MacBook Pro that costs $200 more for 2GB extra RAM and an SD card slot
