Angry Birds Space is making quite the leap for mankind. Since its release last Thursday, the game has been downloaded 10 million times. The stats come from a tweet by Rovio talking about how many downloads the game has done. The company didn't compare the numbers to the downloads of other Angry Birds series, but given this was a simultaneous multiplatform release, the download speeds were bound to be higher. According to Mashable, Angry Birds Rio hit the 10 million downloads mark in 10 days. Of course, now what's going to matter is if Angry Birds Space spreads its wings a little further, in particular to Windows Phone. The frenzy that ensued when Rovio's Chief Marketing Officer, Peter Vesterbacka said that the company has no plans to release Space to Windows Phone has left Nokia and Microsoft in a quandry.

Blast off!

However, Rovio CEO, Mikael Hed later stated that Space would indeed come to Windows Phone. Space brings with it a revised gameplay, utilizing the lack of gravity in space and creating specific gravity bubbles to complicate matters. The trajectory is now also mapped out, so you know which direction the birds will fly in. The birds themselves have been redesigned. The red and blue birds got physical redesigns, the yellow bird is now purple and can change direction mid-flight. The big, red bird is now green, the black bird now has shades of yellow and there is a new bird, the ice bird. Like Angry Birds Rio, but unlike the other Angry Birds series, there is also a boss fight in Angry Birds Space.
