When Google’s Android is the top selling mobile OS in the world and India is one of its largest selling market, India’s Telecom minister Kapil Sibal hints to ban it in the country.

“I want you people to suggest how can we close it. If we want to close it, you will attack us. I want all the media to come together and tell the minister how to deal with it so that if I do something about it, you don’t attack me.”

This is what Mr. Sibal said to the reporters in response to a query on the Indian government’s action to adult applications for Android phones. In 2011 Mr. Sibal announced cheaper Aakash Tablet for Indian students which uses Android.

This is true that Google Play Store distributes a number of adult applications for its users. But a Google spokesperson told DNA in response to this that the company builds tools and controls its products to enhance its user’s online experience.

“Google Play developer programme policy does not allow content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material. Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography,”

The spokesperson said this in a statement and added if Google becomes aware of content with child pornography, it will report to appropriate authorities and remove the Google accounts involved with that distribution.

The government had recently showed interest to ban some websites and webpages containing obscene contents.
