If a certain forum posting it to be believed then Alienware’s new M11x portable gaming computer already has its first update pending. Poster “Darkhan” on NotebookReview’s forums said that the system will be getting new Intel processors and Nvidia’s Optimus graphics switching technology in a future release.
The new release is tentatively being called the M11x R2, but based on Alienware’s current naming scheme it would probably hit the market as the M11x.
The timing? darkhan said “Estimate by End of June mid July”, which is extremely soon after the current system’s March 1 ship date.
Not that the changes wouldn’t make sense–the M11x is an ideal candidate for Optimus and additional Intel processors, including new Core models. The M11x is a very good computer right now, but these changes would directly address most people’s problems with it.
