Xiaomi on Wednesday, as expected, unveiled its new Redmi 3S smartphone in India, alongside the Redmi 3S Prime variant. The new Redmi 3S smartphones are 'Made in India' devices, says Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Redmi 3S has been priced at Rs. 6,999 while Redmi 3S Prime will retail at Rs. 8,999. Both models will be initially available exclusively via Mi.com and Flipkart. Out of the two, the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime will go on sale first starting August 9. Xiaomi says the Redmi 3S model will go on sale a week later.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime are identical, except for the memory and storage on board. The Redmi 3S also foregoes the fingerprint sensor on the Redmi 3S Prime model. The Redmi 3S bears 2GB of RAM with 16GB of inbuilt storage, while the Redmi 3S Prime bears 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage model.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S has been so far available in the China, and India appears to be the first overseas market.
For specifications, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime (seen below) pack the an all-new octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.1GHz clubbed with Adreno 505 GPU. The Chinese company claimed that the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime are the first smartphones featuring the new Snapdragon 430 chipset.
The smartphones support expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB). The dual-SIM handsets (Micro + Nano) come with hybrid SIM slots which means the second slot also acts as a microSD slot. One of the biggest improvements over the original Xiaomi Redmi 3 is the Redmi 3S Prime features a fingerprint scanner at the back panel.
The Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime feature a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display and runs MIUI 7.5 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphones sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), f/2.0 aperture, HDR mode, 1080p video recording, and LED flash. The handsets also pack a 5-megapixel front camera with 1080p video recording capability.
Connectivity options on the handsets include 4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth, Glonass, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB. The handsets are backed by a 4100mAh battery just like the original Redmi 3. The Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime measure 139.3x69.6x8.5mm and weigh 144 grams.

उम्मीद के मुताबिक, शाओमी ने भारत में अपने रेडमी 3एस स्मार्टफोन को लॉन्च कर दिया। शाओमी ने बताया है कि नया रेडमी 3एस ‘मेड इन इंडिया’ हैंडसेट है। शाओमी रेडमी 3एस के दो वेरिएंट भारत में लॉन्च किए गए हैं। ये वेरिएंट रैम और इनबिल्ट स्टोरेज के आधार पर अलग-अलग हैं। शाओमी रेडमी 3 के दोनों नए मॉडल शुरुआत में मी डॉट कॉम और फ्लिपकार्ट पर उपलब्ध होंगे।
पहला वेरिएंट 2 जीबी रैम और 16 जीबी की इनबिल्ट स्टोरेज के साथ आएगा। दूसरा वेरिएंट 3 जीबी रैम और 32 जीबी स्टोरेज से लैस है। गौर करने वाली बात है कि कंपनी इस वेरिएंट को शाओमी रेडमी 3एस प्राइम का नाम दिया है। यह 8,999 रुपये में उपलब्ध होगा। शाओमी ने बताया कि 2 जीबी रैम और 16 जीबी स्टोरेज वाले वेरिएंट की बिक्री बाद में शुरू होगी। यह वेरिएंट 6,999 रुपये में मिलेगा। सबसे पहले शाओमी रेडमी 3एस प्राइम को उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। इसकी बिक्री 9 अगस्त से शुरू होगी।
रेडमी 3एस के दोनों वेरिएंट में एक और मुख्य अंतर फिंगरप्रिंट सेंसर का है। 2 जीबी रैम और 16 जीबी स्टोरेज वाला वेरिएंट फिंगरप्रिंट स्कैनर हार्डवेयर फ़ीचर से साथ नहीं आएगा। शाओमी रेडमी 3एस अब तक सिर्फ कंपनी के घरेलू मार्केट में उपलब्ध था। भारत इस हैंडसेट के लिए पहला विदेशी मार्केट होगा।
स्पेसिफिकेशन की बात करें तो शाओमी रेडमी 3एस में नए ऑक्टा-कोर क्वालकॉम स्नैपड्रैगन 430 प्रोसेसर का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। यह 1.1 गीगाहर्ट्ज़ की क्लॉक स्पीड देगा। ग्राफिक्स के लिए एड्रेनो 505 जीपीयू इंटिग्रेटेड है। चीन की इस कंपनी ने दावा किया है कि रेडमी 3एस हैंडसेट स्नैपड्रैगन 430 चिपसेट से लैस पहला स्मार्टफोन है।
दोनों ही वेरिएंट में यूज़र 128 जीबी तक का माइक्रोएसडी कार्ड इस्तेमाल कर पाएंगे। यह डुअल सिम हैंडेसट (माइक्रो + नैनो) हाइब्रिड सिम स्लॉट के साथ आता है। इसका मतलब है कि दूसरा सिम कार्ड स्लॉट माइक्रोएसडी स्लॉट के तौर पर भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है। शाओमी रेडमी 3 की तुलना में इस हैंडसेट में सबसे बड़ा बदलाव फिंगरप्रिंट सेंसर के स्थान को लेकर किया गया है। नए हैंडसेट में यह बैकपैनल पर मौजूद है। याद रहे कि सिर्फ 3 जीबी रैम और 32 जीबी स्टोरेज मॉडल ही इस सिक्योरिटी फ़ीचर से लैस है।
शाओमी रेडमी 3एस में 5 इंच का एचडी (720x1280 पिक्सल) आईपीएस डिस्प्ले है। यह एंड्रॉयड 6.09 मार्शमैलो पर आधारित मीयूआई 7.5 पर चलेगा। स्मार्टफोन में फेज डिटेक्शन ऑटोफोकस से लैस 13 मेगापिक्सल का रियर कैमरा दिया गया है। रियर कैमरा एफ/2.0 अपर्चर, एचडीआर मोड, 1080 पिक्सल वीडियो रिकॉर्डिंग और एलईडी फ्लैश के साथ आएगा। हैंडसेट में 5 मेगापिक्सल का फ्रंट कैमरा भी है और इससे भी 1080 पिक्सल का वीडियो रिकॉर्ड करना संभव है।
कनेक्टिविटी फ़ीचर की बात करें तो हैंडसेट 4जी, वाई-फाई, जीपीआरएस/ एज, ब्लूटूथ, जीपीएस/ ए-जीपीएस, ग्लोनास, वाई-फाई 802.11 बी/जी/एन और माइक्रो-यूएसबी से लैस है। रेडमी 3 की तरह इस हैंडसेट में 4100 एमएएच की बैटरी दी गई है। डाइमेंशन 139.3x69.6x8.5 मिलीमीटर है और वज़न 144 ग्राम। शाओमी रेडमी 3एस हैंडसेट ग्रे, सिल्वर और गोल्ड कलर वेरिएंट में उपलब्ध होगा।
