Swipe, couple of weeks after revealing its Slate Pro tablet in India, launched its Swipe Marathon smartphone at Rs. 4,599 via an e-commerce website.

The Swipe Marathon features dual-SIM support with dual standby (3G) and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS out-of-the-box. The handset sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixel) resolution display and is powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor (unspecified) coupled with 512MB of RAM.

The smartphone also features a 5-megpixel rear and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Besides 4GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card (up to 32GB), the smartphone is backed by a 4000mAh battery. The Swipe Marathon smartphone also includes regular connectivity options like 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity as per its listing on the e-commerce website.

It is worth mentioning that Swipe Marathon is the second smartphone in the sub-Rs.10,000 segment to feature such a large battery. The first was Lava Iris Fuel 60, which was launched earlier this month. The 4000mAh battery of Swipe Marathon is rated to deliver a standby time of up to 60 days. The smartphone is available in White colour variant from Snapdeal.

Swipe last launched its Swipe Sense smartphone in August. The Android KitKat-running smartphone is also the first to come with the fingerprint reader feature in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category. In addition to the fingerprint reader, Swipe Sense also comes with an additional 2250mAh battery in the box, apart from the 2250mAh battery backing the device. The smartphone however performed just average in our tests. While it had a good design and battery life, the main fingerprint feature was proven inconsistent. The smartphone comes priced at Rs. 9,999.

4000 mAh battery a good thing, but 512 MB RAM is ok ok thing in it. 4000 mAh should definitely give 4 days uptime for this 4.5 inch display on FWVGA Resolution.
