Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani, A WM-Based Nokia N97

South Korean mobile-phone maker Samsung and Giorgio Armani announced on Friday the release of the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Samsung B7620, a nice-looking device that sports a slide-and-tilt, 3.5-inch AMOLED full touchscreen display, a QWERTY keyboard and a Nokia N97 mini-like design. Even so, the new mobile phone has all that it takes to appeal to any user on the market, except maybe for the leveraged price tag it comes around with: €700 (or around $1,035).

Powered by an ARM1176 CPU running at 800MHz, which is coupled with 192MB of RAM, the new handset should play nicely with the latest iteration of Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. It is neither the first Samsung handset that comes with Giorgio Armani's logo on it, nor the first one to sport this form factor, but it does come as a uniquely styled, golden mobile phone.

JK Shin, executive vice president and head of the Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said, “We are delighted to have reached another threshold in the collaboration between Giorgio Armani and Samsung Electronics. This latest-generation mobile masterfully combines our experience in technology with a design from one of the world's best known designers and the functions offered by Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. What's more, the Giorgio Armani-Samsung smartphone is a demonstration of our commitment to offering customers cutting-edge technology in our products, along with exclusive design and fashion.”

The specs of the new device include a five-megapixel photo snapper, an HSPA connectivity, a built-in GPS receiver, TV-out capabilities, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, DivX/XviD support, 8GB of internal memory, as well as a MicroSD memory card slot for additional storage space to be added into the equation. In addition, the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system should also provide a wide range of features to users, including access to a series of new services from the Redmond-based software giant.

According to the two companies, the new Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani is expected to reach the market in Italy, UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Russia, China, and UAE (Dubai) in the near future. Take a look at the images below to make an idea on the phone, and say if it doesn't look like Nokia's handset.
