Lenovo has been rather quiet in India when it comes to smartphones, but looks like the company is preparing a big campaign to launch its 5.5-inch phablet, the K900. The phone is powered by Intel's brand new dual-core Clover Trail+ processor, and, according to a report by NDTV Gadgets, is set to launch in India on May 10. Interestingly, the report cited sources saying that the phone will launched at a “very aggressive price.”

In addition, the launch will reportedly be accompanied by a huge marketing push and will likely include a TV campaign, which may be run during the ongoing Indian Premier League cricket tournament. While there's no clue about the cost of the K900, the report says it will be priced below Rs 25,000.

If it's launched at that price, the K900 will be excellent value for money. It was first shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and will be one of the first devices to make use of the new Intel Clover Trail+ processors, which have been designed for mobile devices. The Intel Atom Z2580 dual-core processor is clocked at 2GHz, and there’s 2GB of RAM in tow. The 5.5-inch display has a 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution and the device is expected to come with 16GB of internal storage. The primary camera is a 13-megapixel unit based on the Sony Exmor BSI sensor; a 2-megapixel camera does duty on the front.

While benchmark results have so far proven that this Intel processor can compete with the ARM-based chips, we are yet to see how good the CPU is in real world terms. If the India release pans out, then we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
