BlackBerry Colt First QNX Phone From RIM

According to BGR, RIM is going to release its first QNX phone, the BlackBerry Colt in Q1 2012.

It has a similar form factor to the BlackBerry Bold and powered by a single core processor, though it’s possible that the phone will be upgraded to a dual-core SoC when it is released.

It is said that the phone will come without support for current BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) versions, as RIM is still working on QNX version of the BES.

RIM’s overhaul of the BlackBerry operating system comes at a trying time for the company, as it continues to drop in the ranks as the top handset maker in the world. Though the company recently announced its new lineup of BlackBerry 7 devices, RIM’s transition to QNX-based devices could make it an industry leader once again.
