Apple's iPhone 6 Launched - Official Specifications

Tim Cook took the stage at the start of today's event and almost immediately announced the new iPhone 6. The Apple iPhone 6 is based on iPod touch looks and has a 4.7" screen.
The screen is protected by "Ion-strengthened glass", which is curved around the edges for a more seamless experience when swiping. The screen itself is an LCD with "Retina HD," which translates to 750 x 1,334 pixels. This pushes the pixel density to 326ppi.

The 8MP iSight camera is back for a fourth year in a row. Apple claims the camera has been improved now - it still has 1.5µ pixels, but features phase detection autofocus and sits behind an f/2.2 aperture. There's no OIS though, it relies on digital stabilization. The camera can shoot panoramas up to 43MP.
The video resolution is kept at 1080p but the 60fps has now been promoted to the max FullHD resolution (up from 720p @ 60fps). Slo-mo video can shoot at 120fps and 240fps, but at a lower resolution.
The chassis is made of anodized aluminum with a stainless steel Apple logo. The body is just 6.9mm thick.
The Apple iPhone 6 is powered by a second-generation chipset, the Apple A8. It offers 25% more CPU power and 50% extra GPU oomph. The chipset is built on a power-efficient 20nm process, which also makes it 13% smaller physically than its A7 predecessor.

Apple promises the battery life for the new iPhone 6 will be equal or better than the 5s. It will do up to 14 hours of talk time. Aside from the regular GSM calling, it supports VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) and Wi-Fi calling (for T-Mobile in teh US and EE in the UK). LTE has been updated to support up to 150Mbps downlink (Cat. 4) and supports up to 20 bands.
Other connectivity upgrades include Wi-Fi 802.11ac for three times faster Wi-Fi speeds. Finally, there's also NFC now, which enables Apple's new Apple Pay service for wireless payments.
The M8 co-processor succeeds the M7 and is coupled with a barometer. The two accurately track changes in elevation and can even count the steps you've taken.

Apple Iphone-6 & iphone 6Plus Launched

1Well folks, the time for wild-eyed rumors and clandestine reports is finally over - Apple CEO Tim Cook just officially revealed the hefty new iPhone 6 Plus and its 5.5-inch screen in Cupertino alongside a long-rumored (and handier) 4.7-inch model. This thing won't seem all that foreign if you frequent the geekier corners of the web, but it's a sure sign that Apple wants to give all those other pocket-stretching phablets out there a run for their metaphorical money. The company's live press event still chugging along (with a sketchy stream, no less), but here's what we know so far.

There's no two ways about it: the star of the show here is the spacious 5.5-inch 1080p Retina Display HD riding up front - to hear Apple's Phil Schiller tell it, it's SRGB-accurate, has an ultrathin backlight, photo-aligned IPS liquid crystals, an improved polarizer, and ion-strengthened glass. More importantly (and at long last!), the screen runs at 1080p.

You won't notice any dramatic design differences between this model and its little brother - it's still dramatically thinner than the iPhones that came before it (the Plus comes in at 7.1mm thick, and the angular edges of the 5s have given way to a smoother, rounder look in line with the company's most recent batch of iPads. Remember all those leaks? They absolutely nailed it, and the end result looks, well, really comfortable to latch onto.

There's a decent chance that if you're reading this, you're already clamoring for a 6 Plus of your very own. Curiously, Apple has done away with the 32GB model entirely and added a 128GB model to the mix too in case you've got a few decades of movies that need to go with you everywhere. The 6 Plus will cost $299, $399, and $499 for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models, respectively with your usual two-year contract. You'd better start saving up, too: preorders start on September 12 and it'll start shipping in "several countries" on the 19th. Take that, oft-repeated rumors of a protracted launch!

You were expecting it, and here it is: Apple has unveiled the smaller of its two new smartphones, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. As the leaks suggested, it centers around a 1,334 x 750 Retina Display HD and is decidedly slimmer (not to mention curvier) than its already svelte 5s predecessor, at 6.9mm thick. It's not all about looks, though. The new handset is also running a beefier A8 chip that's claimed to be about 25 percent faster than the A7 you saw the last time around, even as it's up to 50 percent more efficient -- Apple estimates up to 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of video and 10 days of standby.

*New software improvements help you take better pictures.

Faster autofocus, next-generation local tone mapping, and advanced noise reduction. It’s a mouthful that gives you a real eyeful.

*The iPhone 6 can judge distance and elevation, so you can get credit for flights of stairs in all those fitness apps

*Focus Pixels are a technology previously found only in professional DSLR cameras.

*With 802.11ac, iPhone 6 Wi-Fi speeds are up to three times faster than iPhone 5s.

*VoLTE for iPhone 6 is supported by some of the world’s top carriers. And will continue grow.

*iPhone 6 supports over 200 LTE carriers around the world. Including all three in China.

*iPhone 6 has faster LTE than iPhone 5s. It also has more LTE bands than any other smartphone for better roaming.

*iPhone 6 has a barometer that senses air pressure to measure relative elevation.

*The M8 coprocessor continuously measures motion data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass.

*The barometer is great for fitness apps. iPhone can now tell if you’re going up molehills, mountains, and everything in between.
