Punjabi cinema which has been going through resurgence over the last few years is likely to have another super hit in the form of Yaar Anmulle released last Friday.

The film had a good weekend of 70 lakhs which is well short of the record opening weekend of 1.45 crore by Jihne Mera Dil Luteya but overall it is fourth biggest opening of Punjabi cinema. The daily breakdown is as follows.

Friday - 23 lakhs

Saturday - 21 lakhs

Sunday - 26 lakhs

Yaar Anmulle which is heavily inspired from the Hindi blockbuster Three Idiots came into its own on Monday by collecting 20 lakhs which suggests a week close of 1.45 crore and a long run at the box office with chances of emerging a blockbuster.

As an industry grows, the risks also grow as more and more films are made and then you will also have debacles like Yaara Dildaara which was a big Punjabi film featuring likes of Harbhajan Mann, Tulip Joshi and Kabir Bedi. This film was out of theatres in a week and had lifetime business of less than 50 lakhs.
